Reborn baby FINN
Finn was a test-baby: my very first reborn. He was orignially an anatomically correct Berenguer La Baby boy that belonged to my kids. They weren't interested in him anymore so I salvaged him and tried my hand at reborning a doll to look like one of our family. The pictures were taken with my old camera so unfortunately they're not real clear. Eventually I'll take some new, better ones.
~ About Finn ~
Finn was rather grubby from playing with my kids so he had a bubble bath before his factory paint was removed. I removed his factory eyes and carefully opened his nose, later backed with felt for depth. I used watercolors to paint transparent veins on his temples, forehead, feet, hands, wrists and ankles, as well as on his tummy and tushy plates. His brows were delicately hand-painted as well. Finn's body was then blushed to achieve a realistic, mottled complexion. Every inch has been detailed, particularly where babies are rosiest: fingertips to privates.
His lips, nostrils, nails, and linings of his eyes were colored and sealed with gloss. Finn was treated to 2 coats of Mr Super Clear to safely seal his blush and face-up. Back into the bath he went, to make his skin touchably soft and smelling like a clean baby should.
Finn's hair is silky-soft English mohair, "ultra" micro-rooted one hair at a time, a process that takes hours but looks absolutely amazing! I sealed his hair on the inside so it can be gently brushed and washed. After a shampoo, comb, and a haircut Finn was ready to have his brand new Artistique acrylic eyes installed - rich brown to go with his hair - sealed with clear gloss for a moist look. His authentic baby-weight comes from having his limbs filled with tiny, sterile glass beads sealed in with silicone. His head is weighted with a poly-pellet 'brain', cushioned with new polyfill to keep it in place. His cuddly-soft torso is jointed doe-skin suede, weighted with poly- and iron pellet bags nestled in polyfill for huggable body that's not too firm. As a final touch his body and hair were delicately scented with powder-fresh baby cologne.
